CID Spotlight: Investigator Jim Howington

Faulkner County Sheriff's Office is pleased to introduce the community to Investigator Jim Howington!

Investigator Howington is from Paragould, Arkansas, and he graduated from Greene County Tech High School in 1973. In 1974, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he remained on active duty until 1977. Following this, he remained in the USMC Reserves until his retirement in July 2004 at the rank of Sergeant Major.

Investigator Howington was employed as a Craighead County Deputy Sheriff from 1981 to 1986. During this time, he attended Arkansas State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology in 1983. In January 1986, Jim was appointed as an Arkansas State Trooper and assigned to Saline County. During his ASP career, he served in Highway Patrol, CID, Administration, Training, and as an Honor Guard Coordinator. He retired as a Captain and Troop Commander of Troop C Jonesboro in December 2015. After his retirement, he was employed by Walden Security as a Court Security Officer for the Federal Court System in Little Rock. Jim stated that he has had a desire to work in Faulkner County since his retirement, however.

When he is not working, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, Ambera. They have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.

Investigator Howington is currently working during the evenings with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, and we could not be more pleased to have him as part of our team.
