EOW Remembrance: Deputy Oscar Honea

10/22/2022

Today, we honor the life, legacy, and service of Deputy Oscar Honea. On this date in 1914, Deputy Honea was tragically killed in the line of duty while searching for a fugitive near Mayflower. Deputy Honea left behind a loving wife and nine children. Earlier this year, the family of Deputy Honea donated his duty weapon, which was one of the first handguns to be carried by a Faulkner County Deputy, to the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office to be displayed as a historical piece. This particular handgun retired with Deputy Honea at the time of his death. Deputy Honea may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. A hero remembered never dies! End of Watch: October 22, 1914.
