Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day

10/10/2022

Good morning, Faulkner County! Did you know that there are two causes of celebration today, both of which are heavily tied to different cultures? If not, follow us! A separate post will be available with fun facts about both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day!

On October 8, 2021, President Biden became the first President of the United States to sign a proclamation officially recognizing the second Monday of October as "Indigenous Peoples' Day". This day, which is set aside to honor the sovereignty, resilience, and contributions that Native Americans have made to the world, allows a time to reflect and recommit to upholding trust and treaty responsibilities to Tribal Nations.

As per Faulkner County Judge Jim Baker, the Faulkner County Courthouse is closed today. However, Faulkner County Sheriff's Deputies are always available should you need our assistance. If you have an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergencies, please contact dispatch at 501-328-5906.
