Human Trafficking Awareness Day

01/11/2022

In addition to January being Human Trafficking Prevention Month, today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons or modern-day slavery, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The purpose of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, established by the United States Senate in 2007, is to raise awareness in the United States about human trafficking and national slavery.
