Two Vehicles Retrieved from Grassy Lake Road Flooding (with Flooded Road Warning)

On March 2, 2021at approximately 7:39am, FCSO Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle in the floodwaters on Grassy Lake Road under the I40 bridge. Deputies observed a black Cadillac Escalade near the bridge submerged in water up to the driver's window. Deputies, along with Mayflower Fire Department and Mayflower PD, were able to wade out to the vehicle to confirm that no one was inside. The vehicle could not be retrieved until waters receded. During the process, a second vehicle, a Mercury Mountaineer with tires underwater that appeared to have been partially flooded, was retrieved.

Please remember to turn around when you see flood waters in the roadway. There is no way to determine the depth of the waters, and attempting to drive through flooded roadways is life threatening.
