FCSO Negotiation Team Responds to a Call

02/04/2019

On Saturday January 19th, deputies responded to a residence on Caney Creek Road.  The call was for a 34-year-old male acting aggressively toward his family.  The caller advised the male was acting confused, talking to himself, and threatening his brother.

Once deputies arrived at the residence, the male was in a camper located on the back of the property. The male was yelling and tearing up the inside of the camper.  When deputies started speaking with him, he barricaded himself in the doorway of the camper. He then picked up a knife and placed it to his throat threatening to kill himself. Deputies continued speaking to the male in attempt to calm him and convince him to remove the knife away from his throat.

Negotiators were notified of the situation and arrived quickly at the residence; negotiations lasted about an hour. When the male stepped into view of a deputy, he was able to knock the knife out of his hand allowing deputies to take him into custody without injury. The male was then taken to a local hospital, where he was held for a 72-hour psychological hold.
