On December 20, 2023, the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office notified the community of the arrest of Mikeal Yates on a single count of Criminal Attempt to Commit 1st Degree Murder resulting in the shooting occurring earlier that afternoon at 515 Hwy 64 E. Unfortunately, the victim in this shooting has succumbed to his injuries. The charges against Mr. Yates have been upgraded to Capital Murder.

Out of privacy and respect for the family, we continue to withhold victim information. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family at this time.

As the investigation into this shooting remains ongoing, no additional information will be provided at this time.
