New Promotion Spotlight: Captain Chris Watkins

12/11/2023

Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to introduce Captain and new Jail Administrator, Chris Watkins. Please join us in congratulating Captain Watkins on his promotion and achievement within Faulkner County Detention Center.

Born in Texas, Captain Watkins is one of three children. He has a brother and a sister. After graduating from high school, Chris joined the US Army where he spent 10 years as an infantry paratrooper. He completed his infantry training along with many other military schools at FT Benning, GA. During his time in the Army, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and the 25th Infantry Division, located at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After the military, he returned to Texas to begin his 18-year oilfield career. During this time, he was transferred to Conway, AR, in 2006. After leaving the oilfield, he ventured into the world of private security and firearms training. Chris also worked part-time at a local tactical store, where he met many local law enforcement representatives. As time progressed and his desire to serve his community increased, he applied for a position at the Faulkner County Detention Center. He was hired as a Detention Officer in the Unit 2 Housing Department, and, shortly after starting, he completed Jail Standards Certification and was promoted to Corporal in Unit 2 Housing.  He was later promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Unit 1 Maximum Security. During this assignment, Chris was able to learn and grow as a professional jailer. He completed the Auxiliary Specialized Law Enforcement Certification Program, and he spent endless hours training, leading, and supporting the Unit 1 Maximum Security staff. After a brief time serving as the Lieutenant for Unit 1, Chris was promoted to Captain and Jail Administrator for the Faulkner County Detention Center. Chris attributes his success to the staff members who have instructed and supported him along the way, and he believes the key to his success has been teamwork.

Outside of work, Chris has been married to his wife for 22 years, and they have three grown children. As a Christian, his faith is important to him, and he enjoys spending time with family and engaging in faith-based activities. Additionally, Chris is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He attributes his work ethic to his late father, who unfortunately passed away in 2013. Chris has a deep desire to improve the Faulkner County Detention Center and to impact the Faulkner County community in a positive manner by always remembering his faith and remaining firm but fair in his duties.

Congratulations, Captain Watkins! We are proud to have you as a member of our team!
