On October 8, 2021, President Biden became the first President of the United States to sign a proclamation officially recognizing the second Monday of October as "Indigenous Peoples' Day". This day, which is set aside to honor the sovereignty, resilience, and contributions that Native Americans have made to the world, allows a time to reflect and recommit to upholding trust and treaty responsibilities to Tribal Nations.

As a reminder, the Faulkner County Courthouse & Administrative Offices are closed today, Monday, October 9, 2023, in observance of Columbus Day & Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
