Scam Alert

07/29/2023

Please be aware! Please share! The scammers are at it again!

As frequently posted on our press releases and social media outlets, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to be on alert for scams. We have had several reports recently of citizens receiving calls in which the caller demands money, gift cards, venmo, and/or cash app payments to prevent the resident from being arrested for warrants. In an effort to make their scam appear more legitimate, the callers are using names of deputies who currently work for the Sheriff's Office.

Most recently this week, a Scammer going by “Officer Cobb”, using a phone number showing on Caller ID as 501-404-8001, has left voicemails stating FCSO needs to “come in contact with your person” and that “there is a warrant for your arrest”. This scammer has even set up a voicemail stating that “This is FCSO. Please leave a message.” Do not contact this individual! This is a scam!

Also recently, the scammers have pretended to be Sergeant Chad Pruett, Sergeant Zack Cooley, Deputy Brian Tyner, and Chief Deputy Chad Wooley. In some instances, scammers have called from blocked numbers and then called a second time with a cloned FCSO number showing on the Caller ID. In other instances, they have left voicemails for the resident instructing them to call a number back.

Faulkner County Sheriff's Office will never contact individuals via phone regarding a warrant and requesting money or additional personal information. We will never ask for venmo, cash app, gift cards, or other financial information from you.

If you receive a call similar to this, do not give out personal information or provide money. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of a call you receive, you can always contact us at 501-450-4914 or our Non-Emergency Number 501-328-5906.

Stay safe, Faulkner County!
