Deputy Hans Fifer Memorial Japanese Maple Tree

05/21/2023

It is an honor to be able to close National Police Week this weekend with this incredible sentimental photo. This past April, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the family of Deputy Hans Fifer, participated in a Celebration of Life Luncheon to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the tragic death of Deputy Fifer, who passed away in the line of duty on April 8, 2013. Deputy Fifer loved to garden, both vegetables and ornamental plants, and he planned to develop a garden with his mother the summer before his passing. As a result, on the first anniversary of his passing, his parents developed a garden in his memory. In honor of Deputy Fifer's love for the Japanese Maple Tree, we were honored to present Deputy Fifer's parents with a Japanese Maple Tree to add to the garden during the Celebration of Life Luncheon. Recently, his parents were able to plant the tree in the garden, which we hope serves as a place they can always feel close to Hans. We wish to express our appreciation to the family of Deputy Fifer for sending us this photo, and we, like them, look forward to being able to see the maple tree in weeping form. National Police Week focuses on honoring our fallen heroes, and we could not think of a better way to close the week besides sharing this incredible photo and story. Deputy Fifer may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. A hero remembered never dies! Deputy Hans Fifer End of Watch: April 8, 2013.
