Black History Month

02/01/2023

Today, February 1, 2023, marks the beginning of Black History Month. While the month traces its roots to Carter G. Woodson in the early 1900s, the celebration was expanded to a month and first federally recognized by President Gerald Ford in 1976. Since then, each sitting U.S. President has issued proclamations recognizing Black History Month. This month is dedicated to learning about culture, struggles, triumphs, and achievements throughout history.
