FCSO Pursuit Leads to Arrest without Injury

10/12/2015

On 10/11/15, just before midnight, a Faulkner County Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle near Hwy 286 and Rooster Rd for a vehicle defect. The vehicle failed to stop which led to the deputy pursuing the vehicle. The vehicle drove through parts of Conway and eventually headed south on Hwy 365. The vehicle traveled to the area of Hwy 365 and Lawrence Landing Rd. where the driver, 41 year old Kristin Leigh Porter, jumped out of the vehicle with a gun to his chin.

Deputies along with State Police and Conway PD followed Porter on foot down Lawrence Landing Rd. The FCSO Special Response Team and Negotiator were called to service. On 10/12/15, at approximately 2:56am, at the intersection of Kaps Landing Rd and Jewel Ln, Porter attempted to use the gun he was in possession of on himself but the firearm did not fire the round in the chamber. At that time, a Conway PD officer with a less-than-lethal rubber projectile shotgun engaged Porter in the abdomen, and was taken into custody. Porter was transported by ambulance to CRMC for evaluation, and later transported to FCSO Unit 2 for booking. Charges are pending at this time.
