Update on U.S. Marshal's Service Incident
Deputy U.S. Marshal's were in the area of 200 Stanley Rd on the evening of September 19, 2014 in an effort to apprehend Sex Offender Jesse Herring on a Failure to Register as a Sex Offender warrant. When Deputy Marshals entered the residence in question, they received gunfire from an adjacent residence. At the time of the incident, the Marshal’s were not able to determine the location of the gunfire or the person responsible. It was later determined that the shooter was Charlie Richards (24). The Arkansas State Police and Faulkner County deputies responded to the request for assistance from the Marshal's and assisted with the search for Mr. Richards throughout the night and today which resulted in the arrest of Mr. Richards without incident at approximately 9:15pm. Jesse Herring was not at the residence at the time of the gunfire and the two cases had nothing to do with each other, as was initially reported.
Charlie Richards is now being held at the Faulkner County Detention center awaiting federal criminal charges.
Any further questions related to this matter should be directed to the U.S. Marshal's office or the U.S. Attorney's office.
