Sex Offender Arrested

Robert Jarrett, 44, of Mayflower was arrested on November 26, 2018 for failure to register as a sex offender, a Class C Felony. On August 16, 2004 Jarrett was convicted of Murder/Intent to Kill/Injure out of Illinois. The offender participated in the rape and murder of an adult female stranger. The victim was beaten with a 2 X 4, choked and raped anally, vaginally and orally. The victim died as a result of this incident. Her body was wrapped in a sheet and thrown out a window. As a result of his conviction he is required to register as a sex offender. Jarrett has registered in the State of Arkansas since 2014. Jarrett was due to register for his 90 day verification on November 7, 2018 and failed to come into the office to register.

Pursuant to 12-12-909, the offender is required to verify their residence within Ten (10) days after the Verification of Residency date indicated on the bottom portion of the acknowledgment form. Verification of residency is required of every registered offender either every (6) six months after registration, or every ninety (90) days, depending on the offender’s assessment level. According to 12-12-909, Jarrett would be due to register no later than November 17, 2018.

On November 26, 2018, Jarrett was arrested at the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Unit and was transported to Unit 2 where he is currently incarcerated awaiting first appearance.
