New Scam Alert

03/15/2024

Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be on alert for a new scam. The scammer is calling family members of individuals currently incarcerated in the Faulkner County Detention Center. While different Deputy and Detention Officer names have been used, the most recent reports indicate that the scammers are pretending to be Lieutenant Collins and Captain Watkins. Scammers often have basic information about the inmate and their relationship to the family member that can easily be obtained with basic internet searches. The scammer then states that their loved one will be released on an ankle monitor or on their own recognizance if the resident pays money to the caller. Money has been advised to be transferred through Apple Pay, Venmo, and other sources.

Faulkner County Sheriff's Office will never contact individuals via phone regarding arrests or warrants and requesting money or additional personal information. We will also never ask for venmo, cash app, gift cards, or other financial information from you.

If you receive a call similar to this, do not give out personal information or provide money. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of a call you receive, you can always contact us at 501-450-4914 or our Non-Emergency Number 501-328-5906.

Stay safe, Faulkner County!
