Mount Vernon Burglary Suspect Arrested

On Saturday, 1.16.16, at approximately 7:56 pm, a Faulkner County Sheriff Deputy was in the area of Hwy 310 and Hwy 36 when a vehicle matching the description of the one used during multiple burglaries was noticed. Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Hwy 310 and Dalton Rd, but the driver failed to stop.  A pursuit ensued and ended in a field in the area of Cemetery Rd and Rd Hill Rd at approximately 8:22 pm where the driver bailed out after crashing his vehicle and ran off on foot.  After pursuing by foot through briars and wooded areas, the juvenile suspect was located and arrested at approximately 8:37 pm. During the pursuit the suspect drove erratically while fleeing, which ended up causing two Faulkner County Sheriff patrol cars to sustain damage.  The suspect was transported by ambulance to Conway Regional Medical Center for evaluation where he was later released and transported to the FCSO Juvenile Detention Center.

The juvenile suspect confessed to FCSO Investigator Flack regarding the commercial burglary at the Mount Vernon Feed-N-Stuff. The suspect admitted to feeling bad about taking the change jar used to raise money for a local citizens health issues.

Felony Commercial Burglary

Felony Theft of Property

Felony Criminal Mischief

Felony Fleeing in a Vehicle

Fleeing on Foot

Resisting Arrest

Driving on Suspended License

 

Additional charges are possible. White County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police assisted in the incident.  Per Arkansas State Law, the identity of the juvenile offender will not be released, unless the offender is charged as an adult.  An update will be provided if that occurs.
