In the early morning hours of May 4, 2015, law enforcement officers of Mayflower, Conway, and Faulkner County engaged in a pursuit and detention of the passengers of a vehicle that began with a traffic stop. In the course of the pursuit, shots were fired at law enforcement.  The effort to detain and secure the suspects became the subject of a Full Civil Rights Color of Law Investigation by the F.B.I., as well as many rumors.

 

Presently, the investigations have concluded, time for employment appeals have passed, and the Department of Justice, the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department, the Twentieth Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office, and this office have agreed that now is the appropriate time to release the details of the incident.

 

Therefore, in the interest of transparency, please find enclosed the case file regarding the Incident on May 4, 2015. This includes written and video records.  Under  Arkansas Code Annotated §12-12-1009, Arkansas Crime Information Center records have been redacted, and under Arkansas Code Annotated §25-19-105(b)(2) medical records have been removed.
